With the Smart Service “Photovoltaic Charging for NRGkick,” you can easily use the electricity you produce yourself from the PV system to charge your electric vehicle.

What’s behind the feature?

A photovoltaic system generates electricity from sunlight, which is converted from direct current to alternating current by the inverter. The household gets the energy it needs from the PV system, such as for lamps, refrigerators and other appliances.

If the PV system generates more electricity than the household needs at that time, excess PV power is generated. This surplus is normally fed into the power grid. However, with the smart service “Photovoltaic-led charging for NRGkick,” this excess electricity can be charged into the battery of the electric car in an optimized way. This means that the electric car is charged much cheaper with the self-generated electricity than at public charging stations or when charging with electricity from the grid.

EASY INSTALLATION WITHOUT ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

To use the PV LED charging feature with NRGkick, all you need is a software upgrade for your NRGkick, which is activated through the NRGkick app. No additional hardware is required. The feature is configured directly in the NRGkick app and takes only a few minutes to complete. You do not need any programming knowledge for this.

DIFFERENT
CHARGING STRATEGIES

In the NRGkick app, choose between the charging strategies “Excess charging,” “100% solar” or “Feed-in limitPLUS” and then define individual adjustments. If your photovoltaic system does not produce enough electricity, you can pause charging or draw the missing charging current from the grid. Automatic phase switching between 1-, 2- or 3-phase charging is also possible. In addition, your own home batteries, smart consumers and other consumers in your household can be taken into account and prioritized.

Recommendation: The charging strategy “Excess charging” is especially relevant if a smart meter is present in the household. If no smart meter is integrated into the system, the strategy “100% solar” is recommended. If you want to supply the maximum amount of electricity to the grid and still charge your electric car efficiently, the strategy “Input LimitPLUS” is suitable for you.

CHARGING OPTIMIZE
WITH THE NRGKICK APP

You can use the NRGkick app to optimize all charging strategies and create up to 5 different profiles that store your self-defined settings. For example, charging processes can be optimized with minimum or maximum power and delay time. The produced power or surplus of the PV system can be easily distributed to different consumers (e.g. battery, Smartloads, electric car, etc.).

With the detailed setting options in the NRGkick app, you can customize your PV-controlled charging to suit your needs and make it as efficient as possible. Of course, you can also use the feature with the basic settings.
